Both forks of this byway, whether beginning at Sterling or Fort Morgan, cross the wide and braiding channels of the South Platte and then climb low bluffs up onto the open plains. (The byway passes directly through downtown Sterling; see “Off the Main Road” for highlights from Fort Morgan.)
