Day Three

11 January, '10

The trip from Blythe to Bakersfield is a varied route, taking me from the Sonoran Desert to the Mojave, over mountain ranges, from Interstate to state highway and from warm desert to cool and very foggy Bakersfield. The Travel America stuck stop in Cochella is a modern state of the art affair with everything today's truckers want. They can have their trucks cleaned, weighed and repaired wile they shower, eat, and catch up on the internet. And when they are ready for a rest, they can turn off their diesels and plug into the latest device that affords them A/C, electric and peace and quiet. A nice way to save on fuel as well as help the environment. While there I was chatting with Paul Waugh from Crown City, Ohio who was having his rig washed. Coachella is a regular stop on his weekly run to Anaheim. After a while he pulled out his mobile phone to show me an image he had made the other morning at sunrise. It was beautiful and he told me how happy he was to be a trucker as when he was a paramedic he never got to see anything like that. So today's shot of the day taken in the Mojave Desert on California 58 between Four Corners and Mojave is for Paul and all the sunrises and sunsets he gets to enjoy from his cab.

Till tomorrow, keep on trucking,

Jim & Ole Yeller
